PHILOSOPHY
OF
EDUCATION
The educational philosophy of
Montebello Christian School is based on the God-centered
view of life as opposed to a man-centered (humanistic) view
of life. We therefore seek to view life in every dimension
as God sees it. God is truth and He has revealed Himself to
man through His creation; His Word, the Bible; and His Son,
Jesus Christ. The Bible is the unerring truth of God. Man
was created in God’s image for the purpose of glorifying
God. Man is sinful by nature and choice, and therefore is
separated from God. But Jesus, God’s Son, sacrificed Himself
and was resurrected for man. A person may become a part of
God’s family by recognizing his sinful state and spiritual
need, and by receiving Christ as his Savior and Lord. Being
born again spiritually, a person is enabled to do God’s
will, which is the ultimate purpose of his life.
As all knowledge is created
by God, there can be no division between that which is
sacred and that which is secular. There can be no complete
education apart from God’s written revelation, the Bible.
Total education is the process of understanding, learning,
and sharing what God’s truth is. This education is the
process of bringing the child into fellowship with God,
guiding him to seek the mind of Christ, to become the whole
person God created him to become, and to diligently seek
God’s will for his life daily in the future.
The authority of such an
education comes from the Bible which teaches that God
created each individual, and that God has a personal plan
for everyone. This plan will result in the glorification of
God. God has given the parents the direct responsibility and
authority over the child to train in God’s way. The parents
choose the church and the school to be partners with them in
carrying out this God-given responsibility.
Such an education can only be
taught by born again models. These teaching persons not only
teach by words, but their lives teach by living example.
Thus, the born again teachers of both the Christian school
and the church reinforce the home training and living
examples of born again Christian parents. This education
receives power through the trusting of the Master Teacher,
the Holy Spirit. With each of these four spiritual
influences being activated in the child’s life, complete
Christian education is in process.
“I keep asking that the God
of our Lord Jesus Christ, the glorious Father,
may give you the Spirit of
wisdom and revelation, so that you may know Him better.
I pray also that the eyes of
your heart may be enlightened in order that you may know the
hope
to which He has called you,
the riches of His glorious inheritance in the saints,
and His incomparably great
power for us who believe.
