STATEMENT OF FAITH
SECTION 1- THE BIBLE:
We believe in the Scripture of the Old
and New
Testaments as verbally inspired by God, and inerrant
in the original writings, and
that they are of supreme and final authority in
faith and life (II
Tim. 3:16; II Peter 1:21).
SECTION 2- THE GODHEAD:
We believe in one God, eternally existing
in three persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit (I
John 5:7;
Matt. 28:19).
GOD
We believe in God the Father,
Creator of
heaven and earth, perfect in holiness, infinite in wisdom,
and measureless in power. We rejoice that He
concerns Himself mercifully in the affairs of men,
that He hears and answers prayer and that He
saves from sin and death all who come to
Him through Jesus Christ (Eph. 4:6).
JESUS CHRIST
--
We believe in Jesus
Christ, God’s only Son, conceived of the Holy
Spirit, born of the
virgin Mary, sinless
in His life, who
atoned for
the sins of the world by His
death on the
cross (John 3:16). We believe in
His bodily resurrection, His
ascension into
heaven, His high
priestly intercession for His people, and His
personal, visible, premillennial return to the world in power and glory according to His promise.
HOLY Spirit
-
We believe in the Holy Spirit who came forth
from God to convict the world of sin, of righteousness
and of judgment, and to regenerate, baptize, sanctify,
comfort, indwell and seal forever those who believe
in Jesus Christ (John 14:26).
SECTION 3-SALVATION:
We believe that man was created
in
the image of God; that
he sinned and thereby incurred not only physical
death, but also spiritual death which is
separation from God and that all humans are sinners by
nature and practice. We believe in the bodily
resurrection of the just and unjust, everlasting
blessedness of the saved, and everlasting punishment
of the lost (Acts 24:15; Matt.
25:34,41).
We believe that Jesus
Christ died as the sacrifice for our sins
according to the Scripture and that all who believe and
accept Him as Lord and Savior are justified on the
ground of His shed blood. We believe that salvation is
by grace, through faith, and totally apart from
works. Neither is there salvation in
any other, for there
is no other name under heaven given among men whereby
we must be saved (Acts 4:12; Ram. 10:9; Eph.
2:8-9).
SECTION 4- CHURCH:
We believe that the local church is
composed of regenerated immersed believers,
voluntarily united together for the purpose of
the worship of God, the fellowship of believers and the
proclamation of the Gospel of Christ throughout the
world
(Col. 1:18).
SECTION 5- DISTINCTIVES:
We believe that our distinctives
are scripturally sound. They include the competency
of the individual soul in direct approach to God;
the priesthood of all believers; a
regenerate church membership (1 Peter 2:5-9); the
symbolic ordinances of baptism (Mat. 3:13-16) and
the Lord’s Supper (I Car. 11:23-30); the autonomy
and spiritual democracy of the local church (1 Car. 12:12-27); the solemn obligation to
majority rule within the church, with equal
rights to all and special privileges to none; the
absolute separation of church and state (Matt.
22:17-22); and a world-wide program of missionary
endeavor in obedience to the final command of our
Lord (Matt. 28:19-20).
